Privacy and Confidentiality

The law protects the relationship between a client and Psychotherapist. The information shared within the therapeutic relationship cannot be disclosed without written permission of the Client. However there are a few legal exceptions to Client confidentiality.

These exceptions include:
Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which Purpose and Living Psychotherapy is required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

If a Client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, Purpose and Living Psychotherapy must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

If a Client intends to harm himself or herself, Purpose and Living Psychotherapy will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If a client does not wish to cooperate, Purpose and Living Psychotherapy will take further measures provided to us by law in order to ensure their safety.
